TALASKE | SOUND THINKING™
CONSULTANTS
Ian Hoffman has spent his career in architectural and acoustic design committed to examining and understanding the curious interactions of sound and space, specifically as they affect the human experience.

Educated in classical piano, engineering and architecture, Ian is uniquely qualified to address the complex sensitivities of acoustic design, bridging the technical and creative, calculated and perceived, aural and tectonic.

In his fifteen years of practice, Ian has been a key member of acoustic design consulting firms in New York and Chicago (including his earlier work with TALASKE from 1998-2004) and an integrated architectural design practice in Cleveland. He has been principally engaged in the design of performance and cultural arts spaces including the Jay Pritzker Music Pavilion in Millennium Park, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, the Esplanade Concert Hall and Opera House in Singapore, and the Winspear Concert Hall in Edmonton, Alberta. While his specialty is primarily in performing arts design, his experience also includes libraries, museums, worship spaces, educational buildings, and lecture halls.

In addition to his service at TALASKE, Ian is also currently an assistant professor in the School of Art, Design & Architecture at Judson University.
